Tubing in Golden, CO

Epic Water Activities near Denver

Get your adrenaline pumping by jumping into a tube on the wild rapids of Clear Creek. Grab your partner and paddle past rocks, feeling the crazy cold water as you conquer each “rapid”. If you prefer a more relaxed vibe, head to Chatfield Reservoir on a paddleboard or kayak, taking in the mountain views or just get a tan. Either way, it’ll be a great time.

If you choose the tubing route - check the water conditions and flow rate of Clear Creek. Higher flows can create more challenging rapids, offering an exhilarating ride, but don’t go alone and play it safe. Bring a GoPro if you want some solid content for your Instagram later in the day.

Do I need to buy my own tube in Golden, CO?

nah - you can rent a tube there during safe summer months!

Personally, I recommend buying one. They make some cool river tubes with cup holders if you feel like your seltzer will make it down the rapids in the can. It’s a skill, really.

Where is the starting point on the creek?

Anywhere you want! Keep walking up the creek and you will find multiple entry points either down some flat rocks or a dirt path to access the water. Water shoes are a great choice here if you plan to enter and exit frequently, as its a bit rocky in some areas.

Best time of the year for tubing? If you’re wondering when to visit the creek, mid-summer is typically the best time. Water levels are sometimes on the dangerous side too early in the summer, as the snow runoff is quickly filing into the creek. By August, the creek is typically a slow moving river. Great option if looking to take young children!
